Diaz was suspended for 18 months and fined $100,000 after testing positive for marijuana following his 2015 bout against Anderson Silva.
The timeline for the suspension ended during the summer of 2016, but Diaz still hadn't paid his fine with $75,000 still outstanding that was owed to the state of Nevada. Due to his suspension, Diaz wasn't allowed to corner his brother Nate in his rematch with Conor McGregor at UFC 202 in Las Vegas in August.
Now Diaz has cleared the air with the commission and reached an agreement to pay the remainder of his fine, which clears him to return to action for the UFC as well as corner fighters in the state.
"The Attorney General and Nick Diaz have agreed on a payment plan for Nick," Nevada State Athletic Commission executive director Bob Bennett told FOX Sports on Thursday. "This will authorize Nick to fight, work corners, etc."
The news about Diaz being cleared to return to action was first reported by MMAFighting.com.
With Diaz now getting his suspension lifted from Nevada, the former title contender is free to book his next fight in the UFC.
Whether or not that will happen any time soon remains to be seen, but UFC president Dana White had speculated just recently that Diaz was looking to fight again soon and he hoped to book him in the near future.
